Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shankar is a British and American sitarist. She also plays music. She was among the youngest and first female to win a British House of Commons Shield she has had Nine Grammy Awards nominations and was the first musician of Indian origin to perform live and to be a presenter for the ceremony. Anoushka Shankar is among the rising stars of India's sitar. She is the student and daughter to Ravi Shankar. Her birthplace was London in 1982. During during her early years, she swam her time between London New Delhi. The first time she performed was at New Delhi when she was only 13 years old. Then she moved in Encinitas CA, where she earned the High School diploma with honors in the year 1999. Anouskha is yet to be a mature woman nevertheless, she has an remarkable career in the field of singing and recording. Her father was with her to numerous performances over some time. She released her first solo album Anourag in 1998. The Grammy Award-winning Live at Carnegie Hall was released two years later than her first solo album. The stage is a very important aspect of her life. She's performed at many important venues across the world. Anoushka Shakar's talents are not just limited to music. In 2002, she released a book entitled Bapi The of My Life. of My Live this is a pictorial biography which is a respect to her dad Ravi Shankar. She has also acted in a number of films. In 2003, she played the role in the film Dance Like a Man where she plays an aspiring Bharat Natyam performer. Anoushka Shakar's professional career will continue to grow and grow. We are looking at seeing lots of different things that she does. Anoushka Shakar, who was born in England lived the majority of her adult life in London Delhi. After moving to California she completed her high school. When she was 9 she began her studies in music with her father. The first time she performed on the Sitar took place in her 75th birthday celebration in Delhi just four years later. Anoushka's father toured around the globe with her, and she was able to gain many new experience. As she was in her teens, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD music festival. In recognition of being a leading musician of Asian Arts, she was given the House of Commons Shield by British Parliament.
